I have been looking for a cheaper bike that would be also reliable for a 1000 mile bike trip i will be taking in july and came across this bike on craigslist. Would this be a good choice, or should i go with another bike. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Here is the link to the bike i am looking at. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/bik/1215803259.html
thanks and god bless,
nate

You need to find out if the bike will fit you first. They did not state the size of the bike. You do not want to take a 1,000 mile trip on the wrong size frame and no training.
As Bob A says, fit would be important, but if you ran into serious hills this bike might not be the best choice. Before starting on a trip that long, the bike should have a complete overhaul
I would avoid this bike ! The seller doesn’t seem to know what he’s selling. It looks like a 70’s 10 speed, and a low end one at that, The pedals are cheap looking and don’t have toe straps. The spoke protector in the rear looks like it’s made of metal. That hasn’t been used in a long time.In the 80’s they were made of plastic. No decent road bike comes with a kick stand.I’m not sure, but it looks like it has center pull brake levers. Another sign of a cheap bike.It probably weighs 30 pounds and won’t be good for any distance except going to the corner store.
It’s always a bad sign when the seller doesn’t know how many speeds his bike is,or it’s size. And it’s way over priced. You can find these at the Good Will for $25.
Sorry, but I’d look for something much better. Even if it did fit you,I doubt if it would last 1k miles.
Print the page out and take it to your local bike shop. I’m willing to bet they fall on the floor laughing.
Dont buy that bike.
