Hm. To my knowledge you can only purchase Shimano branded bikes in the domestic market (Japan or Malaysia). Shimano does have a product with the "Dynamix" name but it is a fishing reel. My guess is that you have an Esprit Dynamix bike equipped with Shimano parts which was sold in the UK. Some may have made their way to other places as well.

To determine the year, look at the serial number. The first number should be the last digit of the year. It is usually a simple matter to determine which decade by looking at how the bike is equipped.

For an answer on value, well, not very much. An Esprit Dynamix sold on eBay for 22 quid (about $40) and based on it's appearance the buyer paid too much. To get a better idea, go to http://thecheapbikeshop.com and go to the used bicycle value calculator. Input the information and you have your answer.

Ooh - Wal-Mart - BAD! Full suspension bikes (good ones) start at about $1,000. I'd stick with a good hardtail & look through craigslist for names like Raleigh, Trek, Specialized, Giant, etc. A used Schwinn from a real bike shop should be OK. From a discount store - run away.

If you can find a way to add more $$$ to the budget & can assemble one yourself, sometimes a great deal can be found on the Internet. Just know what frame size you need in advance. Also, when on-line, check availability in your size first thing. Many times, all they will have left is large or small frames. Check Amazon.com, Performance Bike, & Nashbar.com.

Buying a quality bike is a good investment. That $120 NEXT bike would sell the very next day on craigslist for maybe $50.

If you pay a cheap price, you will get a cheap bike. It will be heavy, and probably poorly assembled. Parts will wear out quickly, and require replacement. There is no secret formula for building a good bike that will allow one company to build something better at a much lower price. In low priced bikes, less is more. Avoid suspension, it will add weight and reduce the quality of all the other parts. There is a good reason why a $120 bike gets bad reviews, it is a piece of junk. Think of your bike as a long term investment. If you buy quality at the start, you won't be back in the market for another one next year

As long as it fits & feels right - makes no difference. Usually a women's specific bike will have slightly different dimensions - i.e. shorter top tube or smaller handlebars, etc.

I've seen women on a man's bike & men on a woman's bike too.

The only reason they call them "women's" bikes is because the frame with that lower bar (a mixte) allowed women to wear long dresses of the day.

Women have shorter torsos so you can generally adjust that with a shorter stem.
48cm and 47cm road frames do exist.

A women's bike will have a shorter top tube, wider saddle and narrower handlebars. Depending on your proportions it may or may not make any difference. There are plenty of women's bikes in that size or smaller.

well

usually girl bikes are smaller

getting men size isn;t that bad though some of the geometry may be suboptimal for high performance

usually a 5'2 person can find a 26" or even a 700c wheeled bike that fits
it;s not that rare

but an alternative [in road bikes] is a bike with 650c wheels which are smaller

i wouldn;t do that though

lot of reasons

[[unless you are like 4'10"]

you can also take the bolt to Home depot and find the same bolt and the same length...

I personally would prefer and do go to a chain bike store(only bikes) but still and chain as they at least have over 15 employees and can be held accountable for there actions, all the local single store bike store are really bad in my area....I personally Always prefer to go to chain, and i wish government regulated very small Business as well.
