Do you notice any differences, any adjustments or pain? All the womens bikes I come upon are too bright in color [neon pink, hot purple etc.] and wayy more expensive than mens.

Hope this helps.
A women’s specific bike will be more comfortable for you to ride. They will have a shorter top tube then the men’s bikes. The saddle will be a little wider and the handlebars a little narrower. The frame will be available in smaller sizes. That doesn’t mean you can’t ride a men’s bike if the bike fits. Women’s bikes will be the same price as the men’s.
I’m a woman who’s bike is not made specifically for woman. It seems to fit me comfortably, with just a few small adjustments, which included changing the saddle and stem.
If in any doubt, visit a local bike shop & try out some men’s and women’s style bikes to see what style fits you the best.

Most women fit very nicely on a ‘men’s’ bike. There are woman specific bikes out there that have shorter top tubes, longer seat tube, narrower handle bars, and thinner brake and shifter levers. Some women fit a little better on these bikes.
The April “Bicycling Magazine- Buyers Guide” has a whole section devoted to women in cycling issues. A very good read, from interviews with several prominent female riders. Lots of issues that I as a male have never thought about.
