You don't want to put your Nimh Battery in an eva foam bag. They will get hotter. Heat shortens the life of these batteries.
Any bag that will let the air circulate (and not melt),would be good. An aluminium box would be better it acts like a heat sink.( if the batteries are in good thermal contact)
If your batteries are getting really hot you might want to consider backing off on the throttle.

Its fine if you breathe through your mouthguard, but wat i did was wear my mouthgurad to cardio classes to get more comfortable with it and adapt to breathing through my nose. If you do decide to breathe through your mouth, clench your teeth to prevent jaw injury
